About the event

The first in our Amplify series of fireside chats with leading entrepreneurs from the UWA alumni. We're delighted to feature Rory Garton-Smith, co-founder and CTO of US based startup Checkmate.   In just two years, Checkmate has garnered over 1 million users and raised an impressive $20 million USD from top US VCs, including Google Ventures, and angel investors including Paris Hilton and the Chainsmokers. Like every overnight success however, Rory's success with Checkmate is the product of an incredible journey, from his time at UWA to his success as Sony-signed music producer Elk Road and then a software developer at Apple.   Join us for an insightful discussion where Rory shares his tips from his experience raising capital and scaling a high growth startup.
