Impact Seed x Loop Upcycle
Venture kicked off 2022 with a Social Impact Industry Project working with Loop Upcycling. Loop is a WA social enterprise leading the way in the circular economy through the upcycling of corporate waste. The team divert redundant uniforms from landfill and turn them into new products.
About Impact Seed Impact Seed is a proud B-Corp. Based in Perth, we are Western Australia’s peak market builder for impact investment, impact measurement & social enterprise. About Loop Upcycling: https://www.loop.org.au/loop
A Social Enterprise Leading the Way in the Circular Economy LOOP is an employment based social enterprise creating job opportunities for disadvantaged Australians. LOOP produces hospital-grade and natural hygiene, skin care, and other consumables for corporate, government agencies and community services partners; and supports these organisations with upcycling of uniforms and work clothing into new items such as utility bags for workers, and teddy bears and mascots for events and fundraising. LOOP is a circular economy social enterprise helping to save and upcycle the 500,000 tonnes of clothing Australians send to landfill each year. LOOP's partnership with AIME also provides mentorship to Aboriginal students through every LOOP product sold. The Project: The project involves working with Loop and Impact Seed in a variety of roles to support the relaunch and rebrand of Loop Upcycling to understand and measure impact and build a sustainable workforce. Presented with this real-world problem, students will have the opportunity to work within Loop to understand the social impact of the initiative before working together to deliver individual goals contributing to a shared mission. Led by Ella Wylynko a team of 8 students were supported by Impact Seed mentors during this 2022 summer project.
