Sam: Carbon Rocks
Decarbonising the economy will require large quantities of metals, for example nickel for batteries. Significant quantities of these important metals are locked away in waste rock from mines, some of which are very chemically reactive and known to remove CO2 from the atmosphere. These reactions can also be used to improve the recovery of Nickel from mine wastes. Chemical reactions also produce silica for its use in solar panels. Carbon Rocks seeks to re-process wine wastes from old mine sites to sequester carbon whilst producing nickel and silica.
